Escape Rooms: Everything You Need To Know in 2022

An escape room, also known as an escape game or adventure room, is the name of one of the newest entertainment trends to hit the United States and the rest of the world.

Although this idea has been around since the 19th century, the concept didn’t truly take off until recently. For those who don’t know what an escape room is, it’s pretty simple!

An escape room consists of one or more rooms in which people are locked in and must solve clues, complete puzzles, and work together to find their way out before time runs out.

What are escape rooms?

An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within a set time limit.

The earliest known escape rooms were created by British inventor James Ernest, who invented them as an out-of-office team building exercise for companies.

His first creation was entitled The Mystery Room, and it was based on the idea that he would offer up a prize worth $1,000 to anyone who could successfully complete his challenge.

When Ernest opened this room at The Game Show in San Francisco he found that people loved this type of game so much that they were willing to pay him $50 per person just for the chance to play!

In 2013 an additional twist was added where the contestant would not be able to leave until they had completed their objective or reached their allotted time limit, whichever came first.
